US 89, Montana

US 89 is very lightly traveled.  I reached the border and pulled into the Canadian inspection office.  The border guard asked to see my license.  Because of the rain throughout the day, I had pulled on my rain gear over my riding gear, and my wallet was inside two layers of clothing.  I smiled and said, "I'll have to take my pants off to show you", which got me an immediate trip to the secondary inspection area.  After being invited into an inner office by another uniformed guard, about 45 minutes of pointed questioning, and frequent referrals to a computer database, I was allowed to leave.  It was OK, though, because the rain had started up again and the secondary inspection area was sheltered.

I went through a lot of rain, and I saw a lot of rainbows.
