Summary...

From Lassen, it was a one-day drive to Reno, where I met my wife. By this time, I was out of "film" (digital storage media), but I kept on with my journal. After a few days in Reno, I took a straight shot down the 395 for 600-plus miles back to San Diego, arriving in Ramona that evening. I had been on the road for 1 month and a day, and had traveled over 10,000 miles. I wanted to get back to my family to enjoy the rest of the summer with them. I need to find work, but I'd also like to find a lifestyle that allows for extended trips. I want to go back. If you have the opportunity, take it. The one common theme I heard while on the Dempster is that "this is the trip of a lifetime". It was, for myself and many others I met on the road. |
