Hyder, Alaska

A strange little town loaded with tourists.  Its Canadian counterpart, Stewart, is clean with paved roads.  Hyder is potholed gravel with a hodgepodge of old buildings scattered everywhere.  After driving a few miles in, I turned around because of the dust, hard driving, and slow vehicles.
Stewart was the only place I was pulled over because of no license plate (the bike was new).  The RCMP officer was polite, and after verifying my paper license, we spent about a half-hour talking about bikes in general and the KLR specifically.  On the return from Hyder to Canada, the border guard asked if I was the red bike pulled over just short of the station.  When I said "yes", he waved me through.  The RCMP guy must have told him I was OK

Cassiar Highway, BC

Back on the Cassiar.  This is a beautiful highway, although the driving conditions vary.  Generally, the gravel portions were in good shape, but conditions may change from year to year.
